Heat pump heating for offices, workshops, farms, holiday parks and multi-unit buildings — retrofit or new build, with cascade systems for sites that need more than one unit can deliver.
We design and install heat pump heating systems for commercial, agricultural and small industrial premises — offices, workshops, farms, holiday parks and multi-unit buildings. Where a single heat pump isn't enough, we design cascade systems, linking multiple units together to deliver the higher heating capacity, resilience and redundancy that larger buildings need.
We cover both retrofit and new build work: replacing ageing oil, gas or electric heating in existing commercial buildings, and designing systems into new construction from the ground up.
Most commercial buildings we convert are still running on ageing oil, LPG or electric heating. We survey the existing system and fabric, size the replacement heat pump plant correctly for the building's real heat loss, and plan the changeover to minimise disruption to the business while it's happening.
For new commercial and agricultural buildings, we design the heat pump system in alongside the rest of the build — sizing plant, emitters and controls against the finished building's heat loss rather than retrofitting around decisions made elsewhere.
Larger buildings and higher heat loads often exceed what a single heat pump can deliver. A cascade system links multiple heat pump units together, sharing the load between them and giving the building resilience and redundancy — if one unit needs servicing or develops a fault, the others keep the building running.
BECS was founded by Charles Burbage, who holds a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. On a domestic install that background shows up as more accurate sizing — but on a commercial job, where heat loads, pipe runs and plant interactions are far more complex, it's the difference between a system that's been competently fitted and one that's been properly engineered.
Cascade systems in particular reward that kind of thinking: balancing load across multiple units, sequencing them to run efficiently at part-load, and designing hydraulics that don't fight each other, all take real engineering calculation rather than rule-of-thumb sizing. That's the level we design commercial systems to.
Whether it's a retrofit, a new build, or a job that needs a cascade system, we're happy to survey it and quote. Get in touch for a free site visit.
